Duel of Ages(tm) by Venatic Inc. Artist Info, Sample 1, Sample 2
Duel of Ages is traditional Role Playing Game (RPG) with characters and confrontations
from the dawn of time to the far distant future. It is sold as a base game with
numerous add-ons which are inter-playable with each other, making for a very unique
role playing experience.
Venatic Games is a US based company that searched the internet for new artists to contribute as a team to the Dual of Ages project. I had just
started posting images at Renderosity when they saw my works and contacted me, asking if I would like to participate.
I was one of 12 artists from all over the globe commissioned by Venatic for the
project.
It was my responsibility to create many of the textures on the actual playing surface
such as landscapes (trees, cars and houses etc), terrain elements (rocks and rivers)
as well as logo and insignia for some of the charaters who would inhabit the Duel
of Ages worlds.
My image, 'Storybook Castle' features on the box of the Dual of Ages - Royal Tournament
expansion pack (see photo below).
An extremely interesting project working with other artists from around the world.
Digital Sci-Fi Art Book(tm)
- Michael Burns \ ILEX Press
The Digital Sci-Fi Art book provides some beautiful images but also includes tutorials
and reveals the techniques used to create them in todays popular 3D rendering applications.
I was invited to contribute to the book by a fellow artist in the United Kingdom
to provide two tutorials. The first was for one of my images 'Bliss' (pg 32), which
I created using the 3D application Terragen from Planetside Software.
My second image,
'Lightyears from Home' (pg 27), was created in Mojoworld from Pandromeda.
Interesting work and a great experience. Writing in tutorial format took a few goes
to get right!
If you enjoy digital art or want to learn some tricks of the 3D trade to help with
your own works, I highly reccommend this book - the image gallery is simply stunning.
Best of Renderosity 2003 DVD
In 2003 Renderosity produced a DVD to showcase their site and artists.
I was one of the 65 artists to have their work included on the DVD. The images are
set to music in a slide show presentation.
It was a great honour to be selected and inspired me to learn more about the applications
I use.
